It is recommended that anyone with symptoms of COVID-19 get tested, regardless of their vaccination status. It is also recommended that people get tested if they have been exposed to someone with COVID-19.

People with COVID-19 report a variety of symptoms that can be mild or severe. Symptoms can appear 2 to 14 days after being exposed to the virus.

People with the following symptoms should get tested for COVID-19:

  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Fever
  • Chills
  • Repeated shaking with chills
  • Muscle pain
  • Headache
  • Sore throat
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Congestion or runny nose
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhea
